Information Mapping, chosen as the 2001 recipient of the prestigious Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Computer Documentation (ACM SIGDOC) Diana Award, is recognized for helping organizations worldwide improve documentation and communication effectiveness.
Each year the ACM SIGDOC gives the Diana Award to an institution or organization that has made an outstanding lifetime contribution to the field of user documentation. The award is an elegant silver sculpture designed by an artist specifically for this ACM SIGDOC honor.
The contributions that singled Information Mapping, Inc., out for this award are numerous. The company represents one of the few entrepreneurial extensions of basic research that has thriving practical implications for the field over the past thirty years. Information Mapping, Inc., has grown and prospered by successfully extending their earlier principles for effective information design.
"The power of knowledge often lay dormant due to an organization's inability to share and use their best thinking. By designing effective information to mobilize and harness this power, organizations will be able to successfully implement their knowledge management solutions," according to Doug Gorman, President and CEO of Information Mapping. "It is great to see the importance of information efficiency and design being recognized as a critical component for success in today's corporate world."
Robert E. Horn, Founder of Information Mapping, Inc., will accept the Diana Award at the ACM SIGDOC conference being held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, October 21 to 24, 2001.
